Leanne Marie Lowery

Leanne M. (Kavulak) Lowery, 58, of Newport, NY, passed away at Upstate Syracuse University Hospital, with loved ones by her side, Sunday, December 29, 2024.

Leanne was born in Utica, April 13, 1966, a daughter of John and Elaine (Yero) Sergi. She was raised and educated locally. Leanne was joined in marriage to John Lowery, with whom she shared many years of marriage.

For several years, Leanne was employed as a CNA and worked with Self Direct Home Health Care, where she provided care for those in need of assistance. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with family. Her family will greatly miss her baking and her traditional Italian Christmas goodies. Leanne was an avid camper and spent many nights under the stars at Bass Lake and other areas in New York.

Leanne is survived by her husband, John Lowery; father, John Sergi; children, Jessica and Shannon Knutti, Matthew and Jennifer Lowery, and Christopher Lowery; step-children, Brittany Burns (Brandon Graves) and John Lowery III (Dana Swartz); grandchildren, Matthew, Nevaeh, Liam, Harmony, Tyler, Sabrinna, Drake, Alyssa, Lily, Castiel, JJ, and AJ; great-grandchildren, Gracie, Atlas, and Ares; sisters, Rochelle Yero, Debra Moses, Johna Cutshaw, and Marie-Elena Sergi; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her beloved Godson, Dakoda Cutshaw. She is predeceased by her mother, Elaine Sergi.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 5 to 6 p.m., at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., Utica. Leanne will be laid to rest with her mother in Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
