Ms. Lena Bianco, 89, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at the Cypress House of the Sitrin HCC. Lena was born in Utica on November 18, 1927, a daughter of Palmerino and Josephine (LaPorte) Bianco. She was educated in local schools and a 1945 graduate of TR Proctor High School. Her career began as a staff member in the office at the Rhoades Hospital and later at General Electric and Griffis Air Force Base. Lena was also affiliated with the family business Continental Roofing for many years. A woman of deep faith, Lena was a lifelong devoted member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church and many of its' societies. A loving and devoted aunt, Lena is survived by her nieces and nephews, Paul Bianco and Emily Rios, Josephine and Anthony Scalzo, Angela and James Heckman, Anne and Gerald Stinebrickner, and Josephine and John Godin; her great nephews, David Scalzo, Jay Heckman, Anthony, Paul, Angelo, and Frank Bianco, and Michael Bianco; and many cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Anthony and Violet Bianco, Angelo and Helen Bianco, and Paul and Norma Bianco; and her sister and brother-in-law, Jessie and Sylvio DeVito. Her Funeral will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. from The Matt Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/ Blessed Sacrament Parish. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., at Mohawk St., Utica.
