Louis A. Frate, 73, passed away after a brief illness, with his loved ones by his side, on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the Wynn Hospital.
Louis was born in Utica, December 20, 1950, the oldest of three children to Louis A. and Eleanor (Papaleo) Frate.
He was educated in local schools and was a 1969 graduate of T.R. Proctor High School.
On July 31, 1993, Louie was joined in marriage to Terry Miller-Walker. Terry and Louie have shared over 30 loving years of marriage.
Louis held many different jobs in his life, and at one time, was a maintenance worker at the Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge, and later at the Sherman Brook Village in Clinton. Most recently he was employed as a dealer at the Turning Stone Casino, until his retirement in 2016.
If you knew Louie, you know he was a huge Elvis fan and a die-hard Yankee fan. Lou loved spending time at home. He loved studying history and was a daily watcher of the History Channel. He always looked forward to his summer fishing trips with his son Daniel.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Terry; his stepchildren, Tracy Nellenback and Jason, Daniel and Mary Walker; grandsons, Brandon Nellenback, Daniel Walker Jr., Brandon Leddick, and Dylan Leddick; a sister, Marie Mancuso; nephews, Michael Mancuso, and David Mancuso and Tiffany; mother-in-law, Esther Miller; in-laws, Charlene Fessia, Mary Miller, and Joseph Miller; nephews, Christopher Petrie, Lance Petrie, and Daren Miller; and many cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Eleanor; his brother, Philip Frate; brother-in-law, James “Jim” Mancuso; and father-in-law, Charles Miller.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 5 to 6 p.m., at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., at Mohawk St., Utica.
