Mrs. Margaret “Peggy” Klaus, 86, passed away at home, with her loving family by her side, on Sunday, June 27, 2021.
Margaret was born in Utica, NY, on April 5, 1935, a daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Kahler) Gianotti. She was educated in local schools and a graduate of Utica Free Academy.
On December 29, 1951, Peggy was joined in marriage to Ronald Klaus. The couple shared over fifty-seven years of marriage, raising their family in Utica, as well as, many years in Florida. Ron passed away on March 10, 2008. Margaret was the Director of Nursing at the Hunter House, in Utica, for over twenty years.
Peggy was the matriarch of the family, otherwise known as, “The Boss”. She loved cooking for all the family gatherings and did so for days. She enjoyed going to garage sales and watching her beloved New York Yankees. She was a very loving mother and grandmother, who will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her five children, Ronald Klaus, Marie and Kevin Wilusz, Dorothy Klaus and Ken Henderson, Bruce Klaus and Richard Klaus; many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Doris St. Mary; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Gianotti; and also many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, with mention of a special niece, Kathy. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Joseph Klaus, who was always in her heart, as well as, her brother, Joseph Gianotti.
Peggy’s family honored her privately and will host a celebration of her life at a time and place to be announced in the future.
