Mrs. Marjorie Anne Nimey, 81, of Deerfield, passed away unexpectedly, with her loving family by her side, Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at The Wynn Hospital.
She was born in Amsterdam, NY, February 4, 1943, a daughter of the late George and Geraldine (Davenport) Fraker. As a young girl, she was raised and educated in Johnstown and eventually moved to the Utica area, where she attended New York Mills schools and graduated from New York Mills High School.
On October 28, 1962, she married the love of her life, Joseph G. Nimey. Joe and Margie shared over sixty-two loving years of marriage raising their family in Deerfield.
A beautician by trade, Marjorie was an instructor at the Mohawk Beauty School, for many years, and later managed the LaSalon in the Riverside Mall. More recently she operated her own beauty shop, Jessie’s Place Unisex Hair Salon in Washington Mills.
A loving wife, mother, and Sitto, Marge was an excellent cook and loved nothing more than preparing special dishes for her family. She enjoyed traveling, especially to her favorite casinos, here and in Boynton Beach FL, where she and Joe shared many happy winters.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Joe; daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Kemp Baratier; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Joseph and Lisa Nimey, Mitchell Nimey and Tammy Carlstead, and Jamie Nimey; adored grandchildren, Jessica “Jessie”, Bianca, Robert, Greyden, Leighton, Christian, Isabelle, and Shane; great grandchildren, Shane Jr., Haleia, David, Jayce, Bobby, Aviana, Luca, and Ayla; her siblings, Joanie Howland, Sharon Duncovich, Pamela and Ralph Viola, and George and Cherie Fraker; in-laws, Norman and Pat Nimey, Michael and Kathy Nimey, Raymond and Melody Nimey, and Cindy Nimey; and also many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers-in-law, Richard Nimey, Gary Howland, and James Duncovich.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, April 17, at The Matt Funeral Home in Utica from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Marjorie’s funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours on Wednesday, April 17, at 11 a.m., officiated by V.
