Mary St. Amant, 78, passed away peacefully, with the love of her family in her heart, on Thursday, October 27. 2022, at the Abraham House of Rome.
Mary was born in Utica NY, November 24, 1943, the daughter of the late Antonio and Assunda “Sadie” (Prumo) Faga. She was educated in local schools and a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. On September 30, 1967, Mary was joined in marriage to Joseph “Bob” St. Amant. Mary and Bob have enjoyed a loving marriage of over fifty-five years.
Mary was known for her kind and gentle nature as well as her subtle sense of humor. She, along with her husband, enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, including watching her soaps, cooking a meal, and spending time with family and friends.
She was employed as an Administrative Assistant, in the Radiology Department, of St. Elizabeth Medical Center, for many years. Mary was also an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Maynard Fire Department and the Red Hat Society, where she enjoyed many good times.
Mary is survived by her husband, Bob; her son, Patrick St. Amant and his wife, Davina Franco of Winchester MA; her daughter, Doreen (St. Amant) Baruffaldi and her husband, Peter Baruffaldi of Ellington, CT; grandchildren, Landon and Nolan Shirshac, and Sydney Franco St. Amant; sister-in-law, Jackie Faga; nieces and nephews, Anthony Faga, Mark Faga and Terri Valez, and Char Faga; many in-laws, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and a many friends who were always there for her including her “St. Elizabeth Crew” and close friend Sue Foss. She was predeceased by her brother, Ralph Faga.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., at Mohawk St., Utica. A service honoring Mary’s life will be held at the conclusion of calling hours. Private interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
