Minerva Rivera

Minerva Rivera, 68, passed away with her loved ones by her side on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare. She was born in Penuelas, Puerto Rico on August 29, 1945, the daughter of Juan and Odulia Rivera. Raised and educated in Puerto Rico, she came to the Utica area in 1985. Minerva was a devout member of Assembly of Christian Churches, at 607 Nichol St. in Utica. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by eight children, Arlene and Fernando Navedo, Miguel and Nicole Rivera, Angel and Rosa Santiago, Damian and Yaret Santiago, Jose and Iliana Lebron, Joan and Jose Allaico, and Brenda and Reyes Atayde; twenty-nine grandchildren; many great grandchildren; her sister, Juanita Rivera, of Utica; sister and brothers in Puerto Rico, Delma Rivera, Norma Rivera, Wilson Rivera, Elvira Rivera, and Irma Rivera; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, David Lebron; and a sister, Petra Rivera. Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Assembly of Christian Churches, 607 Nichols St., Utica, to share in her services and celebrate her life. Her burial service will be on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the church with interment to follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Matt Funeral Home, Utica.
