Myrtelle "Ann" Suhocki O'Dell

Bridgewater, NY: Myrtelle “Ann” Suhocki O’Dell, 51, passed away, Sunday, March 12, 2023, in the comfort of her own home.

Ann was born on January 31, 1972, in Fort Meade, MD, a daughter of Curtis O’Dell and Lana Eddy. She was raised and educated in Utica, a graduate of UFA, and later received her degree from Utica School of Commerce.

A people person, Ann lived to help people, both family and friends. A loving grandmother, she was always there to help and spend time with her grandkids. She was a proud member of the West Winfield Fire Department, where she served as a firefighter and EMT. Ann spent 15 years volunteering with the Boilermaker, by assisting with the wheelchair division. She spent many years driving for Birnie Bus, and in recent years worked for the ARC of Herkimer, as a bus driver, where she took pride in being able to say she “never stopped driving a bus”. Ann enjoyed arts and crafts, especially her diamond art.

Ann is survived by her spouse, Joseph Gottuso; son, Carl Jr. and Maria Lyman; daughter, Betty Lyman and Art Proctor; father, Curtis O’Dell Sr.; mother, Lana Eddy; siblings, Curtis O’Dell Jr. and Ellen Klotz, Stacey and Doug Bamn, Michael and Jessica O’Dell, and Jessica Welch; grandkids, Alexandria, Gabriella, Lyssandra, Carlleighkay, Katherine, and John; best friend of 35 years, Melissa Lyman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Ryan O’Dell.

Ann’s visitation will be held on Friday, from 10 until 12 Noon, at the Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., Utica. Her funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours. She will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery, in Utica.
