Mrs. Natalina Albanese, 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the Cypress House at Sitrin. Born in Gioiosa Ionica, Reggio Calabria, Italy in 1924, the daughter of Rocco and Annunziata (Commisso) Reale. Married Domenico Albanese in 1944 (died 1986). Emigrated to Toronto In 1953, with her husband and three children. In 1962, they moved to Brooklyn, NY and settled in Utica in 1966. She was employed at Joseph & Feiss Co. for many years. A woman of deep faith, Natalina's focus was her family, especially her adored grandchildren. She loved to cook and crochet and they all have treasured Afghans from "Grandmama". She was a former resident of the Brook Apartments and member of the Parkway Senior Center, where she enjoyed her many friendships and activities. She is survived by her beloved family, two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy Calautti and Vincent Calautti, and Theresa and Pasquale "Pat" Ianno, all of New Hartford; her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Patricia (Raiano) Albanese of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Mary Lynn and Mike Paniccia, Vincent and Adriana Calautti, Dominick Calautti, Joseph Ianno, Dominick and Deborah Ianno, Daniel and Marye Ianno, Frank Jr. and Joanne Albanese and Christopher and Chelito Albanese; 9 great grandchildren; Gianna, Genaro, Lorenzo, Massimo, Emmelyn, Sean, Sara, Julianna and Celina; 3 brothers; Francesco in Toronto, Nicola (Rosa) and Rocco (Natalina); 2 sisters; Rosa and Teresa; and 2 brothers-in-law, Luigi and Salvatore all of Italy; brother-in-law, Amelio (Mary) Albanese in FL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, especially; Teresa Prestia family, Carmella Commisso family, Rosa Schirripa family, Lena Femia family; and special friend, Tina Caggese. Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 pm at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., Utica. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 am from The Matt Funeral Home and at 10 am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.
