Mrs. Nettie (Mody) Koury, 98, passed away peacefully, with loving family by her side, Thursday, June 23, 2022, at St. Luke’s Healthcare of MVHS.
Nettie was born in Utica, June 22, 1924, the daughter of the late John and Jennie (Nackley) Mody. She was educated in local schools and a graduate of Utica Free Academy.
On January 6, 1946, Nettie was joined in marriage to Frank J. Koury. Nettie and Frank shared sixty-three loving years of marriage until his passing on December 21, 2009. Nettie was employed as secretary, at Utica College for many years, until her retirement. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Louis Gonzaga Church.
A very loving mother and Sitto, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph J. and Charlene Koury; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith M. and John Kosuda, and Janice M. and Mark Curley; seven beloved grandchildren, Joseph (Stacey) Koury, Kevin Koury, Cory (Kira) Kosuda, Jennifer (Mike) Shephard, Laurie (Mike) Tillson, Karri (Patrick) Roach, and Rebecca (John) Simmons; twelve great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lillian Mody; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Abraham “Brownie” Mody and Joseph “Josie” Mody.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed, Monday, June 27th, at 10 a.m., celebrated by Father Boutros El Hachem, at St. Louis Gonzaga Church, 520 Rutger St., Utica. The family will greet visitors following mass. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The family is especially grateful to the staff of the Emergency Department of St. Luke’s Hospital for their kindness and compassion.
