Paul J. Cortese

Mr. Paul J. Cortese, 61, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 23, 2015, after a short illness. Paul was born in Utica on September 25, 1953, a son of the late Paul and Antoinette (Mancuso) Cortese. He was educated in Our Lady of Lourdes School and a graduate of Notre Dame High School. He later attended MVCC and Utica College. For many years, Paul was in the insurance industry as an independent agent for several companies. At one time, Paul was married to the former Kathleen Pimpinella and from that union they had their beloved daughter, Lindsey. Paul enjoyed all sports and was an avid horse enthusiast. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Lindsey Cortese; two brothers and one sister-in-law, John Cortese of Whitesboro, and Frank and Rosemary Cortese of NV; a special goddaughter, Adrianna "Age" Cortese; and also many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, with special mention of his cousin, Ann Marie Corleto, life-long friend, John Soellner, and special canine friend, "Max". He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Antoinette (Mancuso) Cortese; sister-in-law, Christine (Walencik) Cortese; grandparents; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours but the family will receive visitors at the conclusion of mass. Arrangements are with The Matt Funeral Home of Utica.
