Philomena M. (Balio) Stauring, 83, of Frankfort, passed away peacefully, with the love of her family in her heart, Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the Wynn Hospital.
She was born in Utica, August 13, 1941, a daughter of the late Louis P. and Mary Rose (LaPolla) Balio. She was raised and educated in Frankfort and a graduate of Frankfort Central High School.
On May 7, 1960, Phil was joined in marriage to Morris J. “Chick” Stauring. Chick and Phil shared over 51 loving years of marriage, living and raising their family in Frankfort. Chick passed away on September 10, 2011.
Philomena worked in the family business, Riverside Materials in Marcy, as the accountant for many years.
She was a very loving mom and nonnie who devoted her life to raising her 7 children and her adored grandchildren. Phil loved spending time with them, almost as much as shopping, and she loved-loved going to the casino. She had a great sense of humor, a gift she passed on to her family and she will be truly missed.
She is survived by her children, Mark and Jean Stauring, Bridget Stauring and Michael Garmon, Tim Stauring, Lori Stauring, Becky Inserra, Debbie and Michael Sawanec, and Denise Lally; adored grandchildren, Olivia Stauring, Christopher Olsen, Meagan and Michael Tartaglia, Emilee Dygert, Abigail Perrotta, Samantha Sawanec, Mikey Sawanec, Sabrina Sawanec, and Gregory Lally; great granddaughter, Zelda Tartaglia; one sister, Mary Lou Williams; and also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Rose Sbaraglia; and brother, John “Sonny” Balio.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 10 a.m., at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church in Utica. Private entombment will be beside her husband in Calvary Mausoleum.
Arrangements are with The Matt Funeral Home.
