Phu Thiet Tran

Mr. Phu Thiet Tran, age 86, passed away, at home with his wife by his side, Saturday, January 28, 2023.

Phu was born in Saigon, Vietnam, April 19, 1936, a son of the late Thanh Thiet Tran and Tuong Thi Le. Phu was educated in Vietnam. In 1957, Phu married Chuc Thi Nguyen and the couple has enjoyed sixty-five years together raising their family.

The couple came to the United States and the Utica area, as refugees, in 1995, and established their home here. Phu worked for Meile Manufacturing, in Utica, until his retirement. A very active man, Phu was known as a hard worker, who enjoyed taking care of his home and his family. He was a wonderful gardener and well known for his beautiful garden, where he spent many hours tending his flowers and produce.

Phu is survived by his wife, Chuc Thi Nguyen; his children, Mai Tran, Tuan and Jenny Tran, Ngoc Tran, Dat Tran, Sang and William Pugliese, Tai Tran, Dora Tran, and Tam Tran and Linh Nguyen; twelve grandchildren; one great grandson; two sisters and one brother in Vietnam; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, February 3, 2023, from 10 until 12 noon, at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., Utica, followed by a service at 12 noon, at The Matt Funeral Home, with Rev. John Nguyen, officiating.
