Pov Phou

Pov Phou, a beloved daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother passed away peacefully, January 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. 

Born on February 1, 1938, in Battambang, Cambodia, Pov lived a life defined by love, compassion, and an unwavering devotion to her family. She was happiest in her kitchen, cooking for her loved ones and hosting gatherings that brought everyone together. Her home was always open, her table was always full, and no one ever left hungry.

She was a natural caretaker who spent her life nurturing others and was the center of many childhood memories. She looked after her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with endless patience, warmth, and kindness. She found purpose in the simple act of caring for her family.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mean Phou, Saing Phou, Moun Phou, Mee Phou, Sar Phou, and Py Phou. 

She is survived by her sister, Par Phou; her nieces and nephews; and a lasting legacy carried on by several grandchildren, countless great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mao Sann, for the compassionate care and selfless dedication which ensured Pov’s comfort and peace through her final days.

Though she is no longer with us, the unconditional love, selflessness, and the way she made everyone feel at home will continue to live on through the many generations she touched. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.

A funeral service will be held on January 24, 2026 ,at 9 a.m., at Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., in Utica, followed by burial at Forest Hill Cemetery.
