Our precious “Reggie”, Regina Frances (Colicci) Syrotynski,72, passed into the hands of the Lord, after a courageous battle against Ovarian cancer and Scleroderma, Tuesday, March 11, 2025, with her loving family by her side.
Reggie was born in Utica, January 8, 1953, the daughter of the late Ralph J. and Jacquelyn (Fimmano) Colicci. She was educated in local schools, graduating from TR Proctor High School and later attended the St. Elizabeth School of Radiology and Mammography. Reggie was employed at MVHS for over thirty-two years, retiring in 2018.
On November 17, 1973, Reggie was joined in marriage to the love of her life, John “Syro” Syrotynski III and they have shared over fifty-two loving years of marriage, living and raising their family in Utica.
Reggie’s life revolved around family and she devoted her life to their care. Her husband, children, and grandchildren were her priority, along with her parents, both of whom she lovingly cared for until their deaths. Reggie and John never missed any of the kid’s activities and she loved nothing more than going to all their games, as well as, all the Comet hockey games. She always cherished the many happy memories spent at their camp in Old Forge, along with sharing all the Italian traditions with her family.
Although she struggled with a debilitating illness these past several years, she never let it stop her from doing anything; she enjoyed traveling to Florida and Vegas and always loved going to dinner and being with friends. A true Angel on earth, she never had a bad thing to say about anyone. She is now an Angel in Heaven, watching over all of us.
She is survived by her beloved husband, John; two sons and daughter-in-law, Dr. John and Rachel Syrotynski, and Russell Syrotynski; adored grandchildren, John, Gabriel, Nicholas, and Marco Syrotynski, and Stella Syrotynski; her brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Beverly Colicci; sister-in-law, JoAnn Musch; niece, Jennifer Musch; nephews, David (Michelle) Colicci and Andrew (Kristen) Colicci.
She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Ralph and Jacquelyn; mother-in-law and father-in-law, John Jr. “Butch” and Carmelita Syrotynski; and brother-in-law, John Peter Musch.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 12 Noon, at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish with entombment in Calvary Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call Sunday, 3 to 5 p.m., at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., at Mohawk St., Utica.
The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Butala and his staff and Dr. Fred Talarico for their care and compassion shown to Reggie during her illness.
