Richard C. Semeraro, 88, passed away, with his loved ones by his side, Thursday, December 16, 2021, at the Katherine Luther Home.
Richard was born in Utica, June 3, 1933, a son of the late John and Rose (Moracco) Semeraro. He was educated in local schools and a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. Dick proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
Following the war, Dick stayed with the Air Force and was a GS-11 Procurement Officer, at Griffiss Air Force Base, for many years until his retirement.
On June 12, 1954, Richard was joined in marriage to the former Catherine T. “Kay” Cavaretta. Kay and Richard shared over sixty-one years of marriage and love, while raising their two beloved children and grandchildren. His beloved Kay passed away on April 4, 2017.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Dick always held his family before himself and will be sadly missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Dennis Blazek; his son, Richard Semeraro; four beloved grandchildren, Jonathan Blazek, Jeffrey Blazek (Krista Conti), Alexandra Semeraro, Vincent Semeraro, and their mother, Isabelle Semeraro; sister, Grace Toti; sister-in-law, Janet Semeraro; in-laws, Phil and Mary Lou Cavaretta; and also many nieces, nephews, cousins; his best friend, Phil Wilk, who was like a brother; and his many shooting buddies. He was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Russell Semeraro; one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Sally and Tom Dobbins and John Toti.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, December 22, 5 to 7 p.m., at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., at Mohawk St., Utica. Face masks covering the nose and mouth will be required for all attendees.
