Robert Acey Obituary

Robert Thomas Acey, 42, son, brother, father, nephew, loving fiancé & talented videographer, passed away unexpectedly at home, due to cardiac complications on Thursday, August 18, 2016. He was born in Utica on February 1, 1974, a son of Thomas M. and Mary (MacLagger) Acey. He was educated in Utica schools and was a graduate of Utica Senior Academy class of 1992. He attended MVCC receiving an associate's degree. He then attended SUNY Institute of Technology receiving his Bachelor's degree. Robert was an employee of the Utica City School District as a Micro-computer Training Specialist and Channel 3 support for nearly twenty years. As a young man Rob, along with his brother, was an avid skateboarder and loved touring the northeast to watch professional skateboarding. Rob is survived by his children, Gianna Marie and Robert Francis Acey and their mother, Nicole D'Allesandro. Rob is also survived by his fiancé Kelley Caruso and their daughter, Abigail Elizabeth Acey, due to arrive in December. Also surviving are his beloved mom Mary, his brother and sister in law, Gary and Pamela Acey and their son Matthew Thomas Acey and his sister Audra Acey; aunts and uncles, Sheila Tutino, his godmother and Bob MacLagger, and Kathleen DiDonato and Carmella Centolella; also many beloved cousins and friends too numerous to mention, with special mention of Chris Barnett who was like a brother to him and lived with the Aceys. He was predeceased by his beloved father Tom Acey and his uncles Jim Tutino and Ross MacLagger and his aunt Laura Pollakoff. The family extends sincere gratitude to the Utica Fire Department and Utica Police Department for their compassion and professionalism during this difficult time. Relatives and friends are invited to attend The Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed on Tuesday at 11 am at St. Louis Gonzaga Church, offered by Chor-Bishop John Faris. Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 pm at St. Louis Gonzaga Church on the corner of Rutger St. and Conkling Ave. in Utica. The Prayer of Incense will be sung on Monday at 3:30 pm before the visitation. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Rob please consider donations to the Thomas Maroun Acey Scholarship Fund at the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties. Envelopes for donations will be available at the church or at The Foundation at www.foundationhoc.org.
