Mr. Robert "Bobby" P. Mancuso, 92, passed away at his home with his loving family by his side on Friday, January 8, 2016. He was born in Utica on June 17, 1923, a son of Paul and Finita "Fannie" (Graziano) Mancuso. Bobby was educated in local schools and attended Utica Free Academy. During WWII, Mr. Mancuso served in the US Army in the 118th Parachute Infantry Regiment in the Philippines and received several medals including a Bronze Star. On September 20, 1947, Bobby was joined in marriage to the former Nancy G. DeSimone. Together they raised their family here in Utica and enjoyed a loving marriage of over sixty-eight years. Mr. Mancuso was a master carpenter, a skill he learned from his father. He worked in the family business, Mancuso Bros. for many years, as well as many other construction companies. He also spent six years remodeling the Matt Funeral Home in the late fifties and early sixties. Bobby then took a position with the Utica School System for eight years retiring in 1986. He was life member of the D.A.V. Chapter 82 and a member of the Carpenters Union Local 747 of Syracuse, receiving a 75 year life pin. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy; his children, Paul and Sandra Mancuso, Finita Paternoster, Robert and Susan Mancuso, James "Juice" Mancuso, and Michael and Michele Mancuso, all of Utica; ten grandchildren, Michele and George Nixon, Christine and Paul Kisiel, Paul Jr. and Rachael Mancuso, Dominick and Nicole Paternoster, Frank Paternoster, Robert Mancuso III, Jennifer and Jason Ramirez, Anastasia Mancuso, Isabella Mancuso, and Angelina Mancuso; and eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Lester Mancuso; three sisters, Lena D'Amico, Gloria Mancuso, and Anita Zurkowski; and also many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Jessie Julian. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 12 Noon with Military Honors at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church. Private entombment will be in the family mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., at Mohawk St., in Utica.
