Utica: NY Robert S. Williamson III, 51, passed away unexpectedly, January 26, 2025, with loving family by his side, at the Wynn Hospital.
Robert was born in Utica, July 5, 1973, a son of Robert Jr. and Deborah (Talerico) Williamson. He was raised and educated locally and a graduate of Utica Senior Academy.
A carpenter by trade, Robert worked and lived on Long Island for almost ten years, assisting in building homes. After moving back to Utica, he was employed as a mechanic and spent several years working for Bohling’s Auto Services.
Affectionately known by his family as Bobby, he loved to keep in touch, and spend time with his friends. He always enjoyed time outside, especially by the campfire, sharing stories with family and friends. Many of his favorite pastimes were instilled by those he loved most. He had a passion for NASCAR, just like his father, even though they disagreed on their favorite driver; Bobby being a big Dale Earnhardt fan and his father, Robert, always rooting for Richard Petty. When they were racing the whole household knew it. Fishing was another beloved hobby Bobby learned while growing up and spending time with his grandmother, who instilled the passion in him from an early age. He also was an avid snowmobiler.
Robert is survived by his beloved mother, Deborah Williamson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sean Williamson, Kevin Williamson, Shane Williamson and Jessica Bronson, and Jay Richards; sister and brother-in-law, Vanessa and Sean LaPointe; nieces and nephews, Marissa, Nina, Nikko, and Alexus Williamson, Mackenzie Bronson, and Angelina LaPointe; great-nephew, Weston Wayne; and also his many adored aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his father, Robert Williamson Jr.; and brother, Keith Williamson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon, at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., Utica. There will be a prayer service at 12 Noon, with Rev. James Cesta, officiating. Robert will be laid to rest with his father and brother in Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wynn Hospital for their care and compassion, not only shown to Robert during this difficult time, but, his family as well. The family cannot express enough gratitude to the nurses and doctors in the Emergency room, 3rd floor ICU Unit West Wing, and the 8th floor West Wing for how wonderful they were during this difficult time.
