Sarah Marie (Pettinato) Topi

Our beloved Aunt Sarah, age 100, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 12, 2023, with her loving family by her side.

Sarah was born in Utica, May 25, 1922, a daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Scalzo) Pettinato. She attended local schools.

On May 5, 1951, in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Sarah was joined in marriage to Edward S. Topi. Sarah and Ed enjoyed a loving marriage of over sixty-two years, with many happy retired years in Florida. Her beloved Ed passed away on April 17, 2014.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Peter and Sue Pettinato, Regina Pettinato, and her beloved nieces and nephews, who were her caretakers in her later years, Nancy Ward, Roseanne and Nick Young, Frank and Dalene Occhiuto, and Donna and Frank Mutolo; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter and Carmella Pettinato, Anthony Pettinato, Salvatore and Kay Pettinato, and Fred and Marge Pettinato; sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and William “Slim” Lucky and baby sister, Antoinette Pettinato; niece, Nancy (Lucky) and Hank Occhiuto; and four nephews, William Lucky, Frances Pettinato, Robert “Bobby” Pettinato, and Bruce Ward Sr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 11 a.m., at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church, in Utica. Private entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum with her beloved husband, Ed.
