Thomas A. Rabbia, 95, passed away peacefully, with his loved ones by his side, Sunday, June 4, 2023.
Born in Utica, May 9, 1928, Thomas was a son of the late Joseph F. and Theresa (Candido) Rabbia. He was educated in local schools and a graduate of TR Proctor High School. Tom served our country, in the US Army, during the Korean War. He later attended MVCC, where he studied electrical technology.
On July 25, 1964, at Sacred Heart Church, Tom was joined in marriage to the former Beatrice Ann Gauthier. Tom and Bea have shared over fifty-eight loving years of marriage, living and raising their family in Utica. He was employed as a lab specialist, at General Electric, for over thirty-five years.
Tom was an avid gardener, who started his growing season in his basement in February. He loved to golf, and work around the house, and there was never a project he was afraid to tackle. He loved being with his family, but, above all, he was a man of faith and a devout Catholic, who will be deeply missed.
A loving husband, dad, and grandpa, he is survived by his beloved wife, Beatrice; his children, Thomas and Monica Rabbia of Liverpool, James and Regina Rabbia of New Hartford, William and Laura Rabbia of Town of Ohio, and Mary Ellen and Jon Facci of Deerfield; thirteen grandchildren, Andrew Rabbia, Maria, Daniel (Julia), Theresa, Stephen, Anthony, and Regina Rabbia, Julia, Edward, Matthew, and Francesca Rabbia, and John and Gemma Facci; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Sam, his twin, Louis, and Joseph Rabbia; and two sisters, Emilie Newman and Gloria Dellaera.
His Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors will be held on Friday, at 10 a.m., at the Church of the Sacred Heart & St. Mary, Our Lady of Czestochowa, in New York Mills. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, 5 to 7 p.m., at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., at Mohawk St., Utica.
The family will like to offer their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Mohawk Valley Grand Nursing Home, for the loving care and compassion shown to their dad during his stay.
