Utica, NY: Venus Vanvalkenburgh, 49, passed away, Sunday, March 19, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Venus was born in St. Pete, FL, March 19, 1974, a daughter of the late Thomas Vanvalkenburgh and Barbara Thomsen. She was raised and educated in Utica and a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. Venus was a social butterfly, who wanted to be friends with everyone she met. She had a heart of gold and was always there for her friends and family.
She is survived by her daughter, Nicole Carter; son, Dylan Morton-Vanvalkenburgh; grandchildren, Lillyana Rivers, Natalia Carter, and Giavonna Carter; brother, Thomas Vanvalkenburgh; two sisters, Naseem Vanvalkenburgh, and Saharah Vanvalkenburgh and Lance DeCarlo Sr; step-sisters, Kimberly LaValley and Kristin Foley; nieces and nephews, Austin and Joseph Vanvalkenburgh, Lance Jr. and Melissa DeCarlo, Lucas, Logan, and Liam DeCarlo, Christopher, Alexandria, and Gabriella Vanvalkenburgh; great nieces, Naseem Brown and Lena Samardzic; aunt, Dorothy “Dottie” Adroved; uncle, Francis Thomsen. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Domenica “Minnie” Thomsen; and a special cousin, Joseph Adroved.
There will be no public services as Venus’ family have chosen to honor her privately.
