Mrs. Yaret Yocenia Cora, passed away, with loved ones by her side, May 3, 2025, at the Wynn Hospital in Utica.
Yaret was born in Guayama, Puerto Rico, September 16, 1978, a daughter of Jose Cora Gonzalez and Carmen Del Valle. She was raised and educated in Puerto Rico and later moved to Utica with her family to raise her children. Yaret was once joined in marriage to Damian Santiago, with whom she shared her children and many years of marriage.
For several years, Yaret worked as a teacher at the Cornerstone Head Start School, where she taught and took care of kids all ages and made several close friends throughout the years. She treated all children or anyone who came through her life as if they were her own family. She later worked at Rite Aid, in Utica, as a cashier. Yaret was a bright and vibrant woman who always wanted to have a good time. She was a presence in the room, who constantly had a smile on her face and would do anything to make the best out of any situation. Her children fondly remember going on adventures throughout the years and especially enjoyed their trips back to Puerto Rico to visit family.
She is survived by her beloved children, Jose Santiago-Cora, Crystal Santiago-Cora, and Nex Cora; spouse, Tricia Wlock; parents, Jose Cora Gonzalez and Carmen Del Valle; brother, Jose Cora Del Valle; sister, Yoxie Cora Del Valle; and also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and children, who she treated as her own and who held a special place in her heart, especially Aaliyah Elliott.
There will be no formal services. Yaret’s family have honored her privately at this time.
